Theory: Garrus' Last Name

written by Tiel

Explanation: (for those who don't know much about Mass Effect)
In Mass Effect, there is an alien team member named "Garrus Vakarian" who is a sort of bird-alien-thing called a turian. He's quite popular in fan circles--many, many people wish he was part of the in-game romancing plot.

BOOM! HEADSHOT! I'm often quite bored, and so I do a lot of roaming around the... um... Wikipedia. From said wiki, I recently found out that "ian" is is a common ending to Armenian last names which means "son of." So, me being the curious Garrus Vakarian fangirl I am, went and looked up what "vakar" meant on Google Translate(with Detect Language-so I have no idea if it means something different in a different language). According to Google, "vakar" means "yesterday" in Lithuanian.

So, literally, dear Garrus Vakarian's last name could mean "son of yesterday."

"But!" says you, "that makes no sense. Garrus is... like... not able to be described by that."

However, if you remember talking with Gar-bear about what's happened in his life, you should be able to recall him talking about his father. Garrus describes him as a "C-Sec man to the core." And you'll also remember him complaining about his father not allowing him(Garrus) to receive special training to become a Spectre.
And various other complaining about his father being stuck in the past.

So, in this sense, his father could be considered "yesterday."
And thus Garrus is the "son of yesterday," which would be... today.

And feel free to use your imagination to extrapolate from there. XD
